Have had several C900 CARS, A 1994 NG900 an currently 00 9-3 SE w 100k on it now. I can say that the 00 had many bugs worked out compared to the early NG900's. Overall this car has been quite reliable and trouble free. I had the DI issues that appear to be worked out with the latest fix. The crankcase ventilation should be updated to rev. 6 to prevent oil leaks and may also help with sludge issues. Other than that I have replaced a thermostat, front brakes, valve cover gasket, idler pulley and belt and I replaced the head bolts before I had problems.
Still on my original water pump. I use Mobil 1 5w-40 changed every 5k and no problems with sludge. Whatever you do make sure the car has had frequent regular oil changes and get it checked out for sludge. Those here who have done that had not had problems.
Of course, get a trusted mechanic to go over it before you buy.
