Loud Rattle from Engine - had car towed today

This afternoon I parked my 95 900 SE V6 Automatic in a parking garage. There was nothing unusual during that drive. Everything worked and sounded as it should.
Three hours later I came back and started the car, but the engine had a very loud rattle. I turned it off right away, opened the hood, and turned it on again for a short time.
Same rattle, but I wasn't able to pinpoint where it came from. There was some vibration I could feel on the timing belt cover, but I'm not convinced that could make such a loud noise. Also, I had the impression the noise would come from the back of the engine, closer to the firewall.
History:
The car got a new timing belt and tensioner about 3k miles ago, and a new exhaust center piece a few weeks ago. It has about 124k miles on the odo.
At 91k the timing belt went South and I got new heads (dealer's fault; service writer didn't listen to me and timing belt broke after being misdiagnosed for noisy water pump). I certainly don't want to do the "head game" again...
Question:
Has anybody experienced anything like this before, or any suggestions on what it could be?
The car is now at an independent Saab Specialist's shop near where it broke down. AFAIK nobody will be there until Monday. I'm nervous...
