2000 9-3 Air Filter Tips (long)

I just changed the air filter on my 2000 9-3 for the first time and couldn't find any tips on the message board here, so just thought I would post a couple of thoughts here.
1) The 2000 9-3 has two different filter sizes. Not knowing which size I had, I of course bought the wrong size (many car parts places don't even show two filter sizes for this model year, so beware). Since it is relatively difficult to get at the air filter on this car, you will want to know in advance which size you need.
The only place I could find online with a tip on how to tell the size of the filter in advance was on the partsquick.com web site, which has a graphic showing that if your filter box cover is held on with 4 torx screws and 1 clip, then you have the long & narrow filter (about 12" by 5 3/4 "--this is the filter on my car (p/n 4876074)). If the filter cover is held on my all clips (no torx screws) then you have the short & wide filter (about 11" by 6 1/4"). Having not looked at a car with the "short and wide" filter, I can't vouch for this tip, but it worked on my car. Maybe someone with a "short and wide" filter could post about whether their filter box cover has only clips.
2) To get the filter cover off, first take off the large rubber hose (held on by 2 hose clamps).
3) The components involved get very hot while driving, so plan to do this job when the engine is cold.
Hope this info helps someone out there.
Pete
