’95 900SE Convertible. Occasionally I’ll turn the key to start the car, the starter will crank without problem, but the lights on the dash are dim and the engine will not start. After a few tries the lights on the dash come on bright, and engine turns over with no problem. Similarly, I’ll occasionally be driving and the engine will cut out, I have to coast to the side of the road and go through the ritual already noted. Occasionally, the engine will cut out while I’m driving and the system will regain power during the coast, and the engine re-starts (I guess like starting with transmission assist after pushing the car, or popping the clutch while rolling downhill for you guys with manuals). Battery posts and associated connections are clean, the problem is sporadic (every couple of days), no relation to weather, and getting more frequent. It began a few months ago with only occasional and very brief (less than 2 seconds) losses of power which didn’t cut the engine out. As you can see, its progressively getting worse. PLEASE HELP ME KEEP MY SANITY, it’s driving me nuts. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Please accept my sincere thanks in advance of any assistance.
