I was referencing the siren batteries.
There are two lithium 3 volt batteries are soldered to the circuit board in the siren, and when they get low usually you'll get the 'Service Theft Alarm' message on the SID, or just random alarm soundings. I've had both.
The siren is located in the driver's side front wheel well towards the rear of the car. I think that to remove it most have removed the wheel, removed the mud-flap bolts, removed the wheel liner securing bolts, then peeled the liner back to expose the alarm.
You can disconnect the alarm siren, by disconnecting the electrical connector on the alarm and remove it. The remotes, power locks, and everything will function as normal just without the chirps or the alarm. However, the SID will let you know it doesn't 'see' the signal from the siren by saying 'Service Theft Alarm' every time you start the car. I've read that Tech II programming would defeat this, by programming the car to European settings if you don't care about a siren at all. But, you'll most likely have to find an indy mechanic to do this, as the dealer probably will not.
See the link for battery replacement on a 9-5 (ours is similar).
Thanks,
Don
