It seems to be solved.

So I sprayed the MAF clean with electrical contact cleaner, after disassembling it and MAN what a difference. It now boosts smoothly with no hesitation. Also, it no longer pings and it pulls strong, with a very smooth transition into boost.
The boost gauge reads mid yellow at max, so is this an indication that the boost level is low, or is that normal? Should I get a reman'd MAF from NAPA, get a new one from thesaabsite, or is cleaning it fine until I see more symptoms? I can't really see anything in the sensor to fail...
I read about quite a few of you boosting up to and into the red zone, this car will certainly not do that. So is that a problem, or just a stock car? This is the first saab I've owned, but not the first turbo car. It seems really strong, but I'm thinking a clogged primary cat could lead to lowered boost levels. I suppose my MAF could have been dirty and faulty, but I haven't got a p0171 since I cleaned it, so I'm lead to beelieve that the problem is solved for now...
Thanks again for all of the help thus far.
