Fuel line replacement

Starting a new one as the other may be overlooked...
I purchased new fuel lines, quick question though. I do not want to break the fitting on top of the fuel pump where the line plugs in. Looking at the new one, it appears that the hose twist a bit and then pull straight up. Is that correct? It also seems that I can drop the tank down a bit a get my hand in the access hole from under the back seat, true?
Thanks!!
