The balance shaft sprockets on my 2.0L 900NG have worn out and am thinking of renewing the timing chain kit and the head gaskets kit BUT disabling the balance shafts as they are just a nuisance (sprockets wear out easily!), however, can the timing chain cover be comfortably removed with the engine in the car and the chains/sprockets replaced easily as there is restrictive access on this end owing to the wheel arch chassis member? I do not intend to remove the balance shafts as they won't come out with the engine in car.
Also, anyone successfully disabled the balance shafts thus negating the need to replace the balance shaft sprokets and chain?
