Alighment issues Posted by Adam [Email] ![]() ![]() |
To make a long story short, I had my car aligned this weekend. It wasn't necessarily pulling to one side or the other, but I have a lifetime alignment deal that I got a few years ago, and figure when I'm near a shop that honors it, I get it done....about once a year.
Anyway, I get the car aligned, pull out, let go of the wheel to check their handy work, car rides straight as an "aero" (clever punn, I know),
BUT, my steering wheel is now off by 5 degrees or so. This annoys the heck out of me.
I brought it to a different garage that honors the lifetime alignment, as I was in a different area, and not returning to the general direction of the other one.... They said if this is something this business is responsible for fixing they will, but he said it was a steering column issue that would have to be checked out by Saab.
I disagree, as I've had this happen on pretty much every car I've ever owned. With my old 900, I simply pulled the steering wheel and put it back in a straight position, but this isn't something I can do with an airbag.
Now that I've written way too much, is the turned wheel an alignment issue, or something else that I can get fixed without having to have my car re-aligned?
I ask, because the lifetime alignment place is in Mass, and I'm in VT. Don't care to drive back to MA, or to pay for a new alignment.
Thanks for any help.
