If you want the car to pass smog you need to start somewhere and having a Saab shop check out what's going on, is the first step.
2K miles of driving since battery was replaced should be more than enough on a 98 900 T to set the readiness codes but you never know.
The 96-98 900 non turbo on the other hand are very well known for having issues with the readiness flags.
And no, it's nothing that the shop did wrong since you have been able to drive for 2K miles without getting a check engine light.
Most of these emission related problems are caused by the few people who wants to breathe fresh air and is forcing the emission agency's to come up with a whole bunch of regulations.
Ok, that's a little bit of sarcasm but if car owners knew how much money they are shelling out in repairing emission related problems that has nothing to do with the driveability or security of the car, they might think twice.
