In my younger years, I was a marine mechanic, car mechanic, snowmobile and motorcycle mechanic. Since then I have done all kinds of work on all kinds of cars and motorcycles that I have owned as well as a lot of friends and neighbor's vehicles. Now 51, I find that I get sore doing some of the things that didn't use to bother me...like epic mountain bike rides and replacing water pumps on my Saab. I have had my fingers in all kinds of chemicals over the years without any gloves of any kind. You must clean your hands and moisturize them.
The only time I had any injuries (frostbite) was when I was in Mite and Peewee hockey as a goalie playing outdoors in northern Minnesota in January (-36F) with God knows what windchill.
Last week I even had them in 15% nitric acid/highly enriched uranium solution albeit with 3 pairs of gloves topped off with an additional nitrile glove during a lab experiment...talk about some scary stuff!
If it continues to bother you soak your hands in Epsom salts, excercise your fingers and quit worrying about these things.
I mean SWEDECAR makes his living doing this and he is no spring chicken. His fingers still work well enough to use his keyboard to enlighten all of us and keep our cars going.
