I think your interval is fine but if you're planning to put miles on your engine (must be getting close to time to switch lol) at some point I'd recommend a used oil analysis, say one at a 5K change, if that's good maybe a 6K change etc - my results dropped off after 5K so I stick there.
I mix a quart of 15W50 due to 1) low oil pressures noted by Andrews of Princeton 2) it was still at level SM vs 0W40 SL - I think the SL changed protect package to save cat converters (reduced zinc or somesuch).
Kinda by guess and by golly, I'm not a chemist or a mechanic.
I'm not sure if the 5W30 is as good thruought the various ratings.
These engines too tough on oil for original 10K intervals, but 3K might be only needed for the severest of service (short trips).
