I have seen a tool made from a piece of PVC pipe. It was about 5 1/2" in diameter and had slots cut in it to fit on the ring. It was about 6" tall and had 2 holes drilled near the top for a handle (or long screwdriver) for leverage. I have used the handles of a large pair of water pump pliers. I used a small pair of visegrips to hold the pliers at the correct width. Then I used a crowbar for leverage. You might try spraying with lube before you start loostening. I can't imagine doing this alone if the tank was dropped. It was faily easy with the tank still in the car. Also, use some WD-40 on the 2 gas fittings before you try to remove them and twist slightly as you pull up. Good luck... Ron
