Eric, The felt seal around the sunroof drain is NOT supposed to be a water-tight seal. It is there to drastically decrease the flow of entering water, which will then make its way to the drains. If your car is parked on an angle...this would further reduce the amount of water that gets in...from what I've heard before. If you have a problem with the O-ring, then this would mean that water would leak from the "joint." So, in my case I got water stains in the rear part of the headliner near the handles...If you don't have those, you're probably in good shape.
Problem with the design of the sunroof, is that when water gets in between the glass and metal frame, it eventually makes its way to the "channel" where the sunroof moves around, which has the grease lubricant. Water can NOT go there, for if it does, it'll leak everywhere when opened. So, what I did is I went to the hardware store and got some "windshield and glass sealant," which is basically silicone that can withstand extreme temps, I put tape around the sunroof (cut exactly to match the curve), gave myself around 1mm on the glass and 1mm on the metal part, and placed the silicone, ran my finger along it, and removed the tape, sealing everything tight. Haven't had any problems since. If I were you I'd also make sure to test the drains, because the may seem unclogged, but they may be a bit.
Hope this helps
