Question for you Anders....... I got my timing belt cover off and found that with the timing belt still on I can easily rotate the top bearing (in the middle of the vee between cam sprockets 2 and 3) with my little finger. In other words there is no tension between this bearing and the timing belt. Is this normal with a cold engine? Does it tighten up when the engine is at operating temperature? The belt is tight at all other points, has not jumped any teeth and his been operating fine. Just to make clear, I have not loosened any other bearings or done anything to increase slack in the belt. There is simply a VERY loose fit between the top bearing and the belt. It seems so much slop would have caused a problem but.....
Last timing belt and bearing change was 50,000 MILES (4.5 years) earlier. That was only the second belt change since new. Getting ready to do the 3rd.
