The Viggen is very fast and gets awesome gas mileage. 35MPG is easy on the freeway if you set the cruise control and relax. 24MPG city is what I average if I don't have to sit all day at the stop light. My personal un-official record is 600 miles on one (very full) tank of gas. On the flip side of gas consumption, top speed is 155MPH and 0-60 is 6.4 seconds. While the 0-60 time is not a super number by itself, it becomes amazing when you consider that 1st and 2nd gear are HP limited...

Now for the reality check:

Test drive it first to make sure you are OK with the quirks. The suspension is really a problem. Stiff on the little bumps, but way too loose when you get aggressive. My warranty was up this fall and the suspension was the first thing I started putting money into. Tires are super critical too. No plus sizing on 17", 16" rims ride better but handling is out the window. As for torque steer, uneven pavement can cause an accident if you stomp on it without knowing what to expect. Otherwise it's not a big deal to the initiated...

The front air dam is very low, plan your route carefully or you will be sorry. You can never pull into a parking space all the way or take speed bumps straight on. Say goodbye to those driving habits forever...

Premium fuel is required all the time, the engine can be sluggish in very hot weather, and it's sensitive to spark plug issues. Be aware that the performance changes depending on driving style. I fight with the computer every time I take a long trip on the freeway. It loses 100HP somewhere along the way and I have to help it find it again by doing a few WOT runs. Also, keep your ears open to pinging/pre-ignition or you can blow the engine in seconds...

The outside air sensor only goes down to -40F...
