BTW, wrong BB, you're inquiring about an NG900-OG9-93, not the 2003 and up revised 9-3SS on this BB, but it's an easy mistake to make that lotsa' smart folks do.

There were two variants of the 2002 9-3SE, with and without the premium package. It easy to tell: if it has HVAC knobs it's non premium, if it has the digital climate control or ACC itsa' premium package car. Also with the premium package in addition to the more reliable digital ACC, you also get a power passenger seat, the drivers seat gets memory, the stereo has subwoofers in the doors and the seats are all leather, no cloth down the middle. There is also a very subtle difference in the ride and handling as the premium package cars got swaybars and the car feels just a skosh more nailed down at the limit.

As for the newest Saab with a hatchback, well check out the ultimate hatchback a Saab 9-5 SportWagon. 9-5's are somewhat newer technology, first produced as 1999's instead of 1994's as the OG9-3's were. 9-5s ride and handle better, are available with more power (even a reliable V6) and are far more luxurious without losing much sportiness. 9-5's also have higher reliability ratings than 9-3's, though the technology is very similar. And if it's sporty you want, there's the unmatched 9-5 Aero also available in a super hatch or SportWagon.

Old 9-5's and 9-3's aren't that far apart in price lately.
