Hey everyone,
Today while driving, my shifter went completely loose. It's no longer connected to the transmission. The clutch still works fine and I was able to get it home by strategically avoiding stops for a few miles.
A few months ago I replaced the transmission mounts when I lost a brake line due to the transmission jumping loose. There must have been damage was done when the mounts were bad and it decided to fail today.
Transmission is stuck in 4th gear. The key/reverse lock still works but the shifter is just all play and its obviously no longer mechanically engaged.
What I should do to investigate and repair the problem? Any insights and advice would be greatly appreciated. The car has just officially crossed over into "wrench it yourself first" territory...
Regards,
Jerr
