Same thing happend to me. Took me an hour of repeated button pushing (with fresh batteries) to finally get the door unlocked. Ever since then, I've NEVER used that thing again, and just open/lock my doors manually with my key.
I've got an autolock anti-theft device that I install on my brake, so I figured why bother with the headache and aggravation of fiddling around with a stupid little piece of plastic, when I can just easily get in and out of my car the old fashioned way? Not to mention the astronical and completely unnecessary expense of having the alarm looked into and repaired? If someone really wanted to steal my car that badly, they would simply use a tow truck, and the alarm would be useless in that instance anyway.
My advice to you is to keep trying, as frustrating and aggravating as it may be. Change the batteries around. Move around to different postions around the car as you do so. Hopefully, it should eventually work. Then NEVER use it again!
Good luck!
