What I'm looking for is just a little bit of advice from maybe a professional tech or someone that maybe has dealt with the same issues. Car is a 2000 Viggen with 100k miles.
First issue was a vibration at highway speed that I couldn't find, until the transmission mount failed from a loose bolt,..actually the mount itself did not fail, but one bolt had fallen out, a second sheared off and the third stayed in place thankfully. These were the three bolts going from the bracket into the transmission case. I fixed this by installing a new sport mount as well as installing a new rear motor mont for good measure. After doing this, I noticed that the shift linkage didn't seem as good as before..hmmmm
Remember the vibration, well before the mount failed, I thought it was probably the inner tripod bearings so I not only had the tripods replaced on both axles, but also the outer joints for good measure as well. This was done before the mount failed and me installing the two new mounts.

So, the vibration was gone, but only for a week or so and then when it came back, it came back progressively worse each day until the car was almost too bad too drive. The vibration was horrible under acceleration and stayed there even when I let off the gas. The whole front of the car seemed to be jumping up and down. I took the car back to my axle man and upon disassembly he informed me that one of the inner bearings on the tripod was cracked and broken. He said that the fix was easy and apparent but was more concerned with what actually caused the bearing to crack. He said he couldn't think of why and that the only other time he had seen a bearing fail in a similar fashion was when a motor mount or mounts were installed in such a way that it caused one or both of the inner tripods to bind or bottom out under stress and therefore fail.

Of course then it all hit me. I had probably caused a problem when I put in those two new mounts. I jacked up the car loosened both mounts and shifted the motor to the center of the elongated holes in the sport mount. I had accidentally installed it with bolts to one side of the holes. After doing this the car also shifted like it used to and it seemed everything was fine. This was about 300-400 miles ago. Now I am starting to get another small and intermittent vibration under hard acceleration and a very slight and more intermittent vibration while at freeway speeds. Oddly enough 4th gear acceleration seems to be the worst for some reason. And the vibration is coming through the steering wheel and when it is at its worst you can feel it through the shifter and center column of the car. Classic tripod failure feeling again is what it seems to me.

Finally I guess the question....is there anything else I should look for to be wrong with the position of the engine and the attending mounts? I guess I probably have another bad bearing in a tripod from the first go round and it is only now starting to fail. My axle guy only replaced the broken bearing so there might have been another stressed one that is only starting to go bad now after more use.
the final question....is there any additional cause that I am over looking as to the 2nd failure of a tripod??

Thanks for taking the time to read this lengthly and probably boring post.
