ok... just a follow-up in case it helps anybody else... i ultimately decided to go with US Auto Glass Center in Belmont... they installed Pilkington (non OEM) which looks absolutely identical to the original OEM glass except that the Pilkington logo is in the center (bottom edge) of the windshield instead of the lower left (driver's side) and doesn't seem to have the airbag SRS icon etched into the glass... the rest of the markings, shadings, maskings are the same... this place had some good reviews on Yelp (a local consumer business rating site) and they had the glass the next day and installed it while i waited for the $100 deductible... Ephraim is the owner and seems to be a very good guy.. he didn't do the install himself but had a "guy" who's a convertible expert come in... young guy (maybe 30) seemed to absoutely know his stuff inside and out... bottom line, so far i'm happy!
thanks to all for the advice
