Fuel Leak at top of tank?

For a while when I got out of the car after I filled it up (1 click and quit filling) I would smell fuel. I looked under the car with a light multiple times and I could not find a wet spot. I decided to try to get to the bottom of the problem. I went to the station and filled the car up till it clicked off. Then drove home and put the cars rear end on ramps and looked all over with a flash light and I could smell fuel but I could not see it. Then I took a lawn mower tank of gas and put some more in the car to completely fill the tank. I did not have to completely fill it before I had gas dripping off and over the heat shield, yes heat shield after a drive where the exhaust runs perpendicular to the car in front of the gas tank. Remember the car is raised at the rear and it was running from the front top of the tank where you cannot see the origin even via the hole under the seat.

My first thought is the O-ring at the fuel pump. The car has 148K on it and it is a 1998 NG900SE turbo. I figured I would run the gas down this week and drop the tank and replace the fuel pump. It is time for a pump anyway. I hope to have created a dust wash trail from the gas running from the top of the tank so I can tell the origin of the leak. Any body have a problem like this and have a solution or any feedback would be helpful? I have had the car 100K miles and almost 6 years and the fuel pump has not been touched in this time. Thanks for your help in advance. Also has anyone removed the fuel tank on Rino ramps. Do you have enough clearance?
