00-9-3 SE 5 DR. 124K. 2 problems I tackled with 3 hours effort last weekend. Many here have had these minor issues but not many fixes posted so here it is.
Slow or no retracting seatbelt - by removal of the B pillar interior trim I was able to find the problem...a small spring steel coil had popped out of its resting place just below where the seatbelt enters the B pillar, just enough so it creates tension and drag. Set it back in its resting place and all is fine, good as new.
Tattered B pillar tape trim - ordered the two pieces driver and passengers side front door from eEuroparts for about 10.00 USD per side. Used hot day and hair dryer to remove the old stuff, (the hotter the better - less goo to clean up), peeled this off and cleaned off remaining goo with Goof Off. Wiped clean with alcohol when all goo was gone, retracted windows and pulled out the vertical trim at the B pillar then removed the horizontal trim on the door by popping the plastic pin free at the edge of the door and pulling carefully upward. Continue until you get to the mirror then you can pull it straight out from under the mirror. Remove the backing tape and align the notches at the top of the door and check at the bottom. Use a stiff plastic squeegee (you can get from a local tape or sign trim shop) start at the top and proceed downwards to eliminate any air bubbles. Use a plastic putty knife 1-1/2" to seat the front edge and fingers to seat the back (inside door edge)beginning at the top and progressing to the bottom in 2" increments. Looks like new, replace and reseat all trim. I did a much better job than my dealer did with this, when they replaced it 5 years ago. Some may say leave it bare and show off the shiny paint (it really is) so I tried that a couple of days and did not like the look of it...personal preference I guess.
Bottom line is dont pay a fortune to fix this stuff. You may be able to do it easier, better and a hell of a lot cheaper.
