I place a 2"x1"x4" block of wood between my jack and the trailing arm (block of wood running the length of the arm) to spread out the load and lift the car. Then I'm able to place the jack under the jack point. I have never and will never lift my cars with a hydraulic jack at the factory points as they just bend and give way.
