Replaced DI module, now flashing CEL

Went on a 400 mile trip. CEL was on all the way. Comes on often then goes away. Usually out for a week, then comes back for 5 starts - the codes were for DIC and 1st or 3rd spark plug. this time the CEL stayed on the entire trip. Don't know yet what the codes were during the trip. After returning home late at night and driving to work the next morning, the engine died on startup as I was leaving work, and DI module was the problem. Had a spare DI module and replaced it. Couldn't pull plugs to check them because I don't have the right plug socket. CEL stayed on, but now when the engine rpm rises to 2500-3000 the CEL starts to flash. Before I take the car to the shop and expend a lot of savings, any ideas what this could be? Car uses about a quart of oil every 1K miles because it has forged pistons. Plugs replaced 5k miles ago. Appreciate your comments.
