Turbo Whine

To start, yes, I did search for people having a similar problem. I have always driven Saab 900s/9-3s, so I'm familiar with the car and engine. Relatively recently (within the last three months) my 1999 9-3 SE has developed a VERY loud turbo whine. When I first start up the car, there is some louder engine noise until the oil warms up a little; about until the temp gauge is in the middle of the little white part at the bottom. Then the car sounds absolutely normal until it's been up to temp for about 15 minutes, at which point the turbo starts producing a very loud whine under load. It sounds about like the upward swing of a police siren. There is a much quieter, but still definitely hearable similar sound on the downward side of things as well. This only happens when the car has been warm for a little while. I've tried changing the oil, and my mechanic did a quick peek around for any loose vacuum lines, but we found nothing. Suggestions?
