I have real doubts that at the current state of technology this is efficient... because if it were there would be a real product out there… it would be featured in almost every car magazine, one the cover of Time, California would probably be requiring it, etc... But if it such a good source, why mix it with gas and not go full on hydrogen? The big problem with Hydrogen is that it takes a lot of energy to generate it in quantity… and almost by definition, anything you could put in a vehicle, especially run off your engine, would not cut it especially with respect to efficiency. When they talk of large-scale hydrogen production for transportation, they generally talk about “green” methods (solar, wind, etc.) because using fossil fuels would make it a negative energy source (more energy to produce it than one gets out). You can carry around gasoline in a tank, but you can’t carry sun, wind, geo-thermal, etc, unless it is in a form that can be carried around; such as electricity or in this case generated hydrogen.
I am sure you can boost fuel efficiency and power mixing in hydrogen, (say by using a tank of it similar to how tuners use nitrous-oxide), but if it costs you more than the gas, why bother (unless racing for slips).
