I changed a cluster on a '97 SET about 2 years ago. I used the instructions on Dmytry's excellent web site:
http://photo.platonoff.com/Auto/20051105.Saab_NG900_Dashboard_and_Instrument_Cluster/
I changed the cluster because the speedometer rarely worked and the turbo guage didn't work. I was lucky to buy a working cluster on eBay for $50. Be aware that the car's mileage is stored in the cluster, so if you buy a cluster with more miles, that will carry over with the cluster unless you have a dealer change the mileage with the TechII. The change took around 3 hours, and was not difficult. When I got to disconnecting the electrial connector from the rear of the cluster, it seemed to be loose, which could have caused the problems. One thing that is not included in Dmitry's site a note to disocnnect the negative battery cable. If the battery is not disconnected, you will cause an air bag alarm, which can only be reset by the dealer. Good luck... Ron
