Steering clamp poly bush problem

Hi All,
hoping I can get a bit of help here please from this great site.I have a 1997 2.0l NG900 Talledega Turbo. I have replaced the bush on the passenger side steering clamp (NB:British RHD car). However, I am having real difficulty installing the clamp over the new poly bush on the drivers side. It is def the right powerflex bush btw.I have loosened the tierod end nut and moved the tierod a few inches to provide easier access (which is quite limited anyway). the lower part of the clamp has to slip over the bolt which is in situ but the clearance is minimal and thus very hard to do and the bush itself does not seem to fit snugly as it wont easily slip behind the s/rack either from above or below. Hope this makes sense! Any tips or suggestions very gratefully received!
Thanks.
Colin
