If you want it to run okay for say 50,000 more miles then here are my recommendations. $1,580 is highway robbery.
Front struts: use Saab, the others will fail faster. Use Cortco strut mounts and Saab bearings. Your looking at about $350 in parts for the front. You don't need new springs unless they are cracked or broken. Get a used set with less than 100k miles for like $50.00 at a junkyard.
For the rear: If you can do an alternator replacement you can replace the rear shocks. You need a ratchet wrench and a pair of vice grips to clamp it at the top and a socket for the nut below. Use rtv sealant where the shock meets body and inside the shock stop rubber boot. Get a pair of KYB or Monroes to last 50k miles. That will cost you either $50 for Monroes or about $50 to $75 for KYB. I've read bad things about both. I personally have used Monroes in the rear on my past 2 9-3s. They'll last 50k miles but thats it max. If the springs aren't cracked or rusted then why replace? I didn't. Again get a set of used ones. When the shock is out you can put a rear spring in in ten seconds.
Overall I would recommend doing the rear yourself, it can be done easily. Some times a second hand does help (ie one person holds the vice grips and the other turns the ratchet). My buddy and I did the rear in 1.5 hours. I couldn't see spending more than $300 to $350 for the front suspension. Don't take it to the dealer or it will be about $500+. If you have any other questions, just ask. Hope that helps.
