Second item first. Your car (and mine) does not have a distributor and spark plug wires to supply voltage to the spark plugs, Instead it uses an item called a DIC (Direct Ignition Cassette). It sits on the top of the engine between the camshafts. It is a rather unique device as it supplies voltage to the spark plugs and by reading ionization (?) in the cylinders can read knock as well. However, it operates in a very hostile environment; heat, vibration, etc. It can fail. AFAIK, there was a recall on these. You should be able to go to your local SAAB dealer and they can print a report based on your VIN that will list all warranty and recall work done on your car at any SAAB dealer. If any other service work was done at a dealer, it MIGHT(?) show up there as well. As for the "PCV" "line", there is no single line, but rather a system. The original system on the car was not engineered very well. SAAB engineers went through several revisions of this system and now have settled on revision #6 as the best and final. This was not a recall item. IMHO, it is a necessary item to have installed on your car, if it has not already been done. Your dealer should be able to tell you whether it has been installed on your car. If not, DON'T have the dealer install it. They will charge you WAY TOO much. It is not a difficult DIY. Search this board for how to. Or my local SAAB indie installs them for about $160 parts and labor (half of what a dealer will charge you). Check the mechanics section of this board for a SAAb indie near you.
