I had a devil of a time trying to get the lower bolt off. I eventually had to grind the head off....
When replacing the bolts, be sure to put on antiseize compound on the bolts!!
When I did the replacement, I didn't drain the coolant... i just used a thin pvc hose and threaded it into the expansion tank down into the cylinder head to drain the coolant and syphoned it out. This lowered the level sufficiently not to have to drain the coolant.
