Anyone thought of shooting clear coat on hood badge?

...to remedy the peeling issue that happens? Looking at my new badge, I can see how water gets in under the graphic around the edges, and eventually causes it to crack and peel off. I was thinking it may be a good idea to get a can of clearcoat and shoot some on the badge so that it's sealed.
BTW, I broke my prongs off trying to mount it. The new bushings are so tight! Going to use some double-sided emblem tape instead. Tried to get a replacement from eeuroparts, but they suggested some double sided tape. Would have been nice if they sent me another, since those bushings were definitely too tight...but I can't blame them really. I'll just use the tape.
What do you think?
