This is the situation. I have a 2001 Saab 9-3 coupe, many modifications. Car does triple duty: AutoX, Track days, and hauling my girlfriend around.
Currently I have two sets of wheels for the car.
(1) 17" Saab Evo's w/ Dunlop high performance tires (200 A AA)
(2) 16" Stock 5 spokes w/ Goodyears (Crap)
My question: I like the 17" wheels on the car for everyday, but I think I lost some handling and acceleration with the larger wheels( not to mention the Dunlops are noisy). Additionally, I understand the 16" are better for AutoX, but 17" are better for the track. I also have the option of purchasing a set of Centerline lightweight wheels, but which size do I get, and If I do, do I get rid of the 16"?
As I'm sure you can see, I cant figure what would be best.
put race tires on the 16"?
Sell the 16"?
Keep the 17" the way I have them?
Order a set of lightweight 17"?
etc.
My thought:
Keep the 17" Evo's
Put on some touring tires
and
Buy a set of 17" centerlines for everyday
Swap over the Dunlops
Any opinion for or against would be helpful.
