I just resolved an long time issue I have had with my check engine light. For a long time I had an intermittent P0300 code (read for free by Autozone). The code means "Cylinder misfire detected - random cylinders." I checked all the probably causes that were listed by Autozone and did the simple stuff - cleaned spark plugs, injectors (Techron), checked for vac leaks etc. But no luck. I almost bought a new DI cassette. But I lived with it - it was intermittent and I didn't want dump a bunch of money in my old car for testing. But.... just recently I began to notice that my battery started declining. I got it checked out - horrible voltage during cranking. And you guessed it - Check engine light gone. Haven't seen it in weeks. (And this was not because I reset the check engine light when the battery got disconnected - I tried that numerous times.)
Just thought this might help someone in the future.
