I ran through the spark plug wires with a strobe light which has a built in tach. With the rpm at 820 I tested each wire with the lights inductive clamp. Most wires read 820 rpm - however #2 read 1640 (double the rpm) and would wander all over the place from 820 to 1640. Wire #5 read 0 no pickup at all - not a flicker. Tomorrow, I'll pull off the manifold and take a look at the state of the wires under the manifold and pull plug #5. I know that #2 and #5 work off the same coil, can't figure out why #2 would vary all over the place even if the wire to #5 has a short. Does this seem familier to anybody - should I just order a new coil?
Thanks Larry
