Yep, you broke the sensor. When systems like the ACC have no sensor input, they will often go to one extreme setting - in your case, cold - and stay there. You should be able to get heat in the interim by setting the temp to "HI". Normally, if you set "LO" or "HI" it overrides the temperature sensor, and just produces that kind of air.
You should be good to go with a junkyard sensor unit. But don't clean this one out with anything but compressed air! And at that don't use too much pressure.
