Question for SWEDECAR

Hello Anders. I took your recommendation on the spark plugs on an earlier post to help isolate the P0334 and 1312 codes and it was the IDM as you suspected. Thanks.
My question is about the timing chain on my 2000 93. Car has 145000 miles and runs excellent. There is a slight rattling noise on the chain side of the motor. I am planning as maintenance to replace the timing components with engine in car. I have noticed that there are mixed reviews about removing the balance shaft chain. Is there a benefit to removing this for performance reasons or is it a chronic maintenance/failure point if left in?
I do a lot of highway travel including possible stop and go traffic for long periods. Will the removal of the balance shaft chain create a lot of vibration while idle? Have you experienced driving a non-balance vs. a balance equipped car for comparison? The transmission is automatic just for reference.
Thanks
