Ben--
If I'm not mistaken, your 9.3 has a 2.0, right? Any 2.0 will fit, although 1996 and up have OBD II diganostics and hence two O2 sensors (one upstream and one downstream) so if you go with an older engine, you may need to do some wiring harness swaps.
Here's a thought....try transplating a 2.3 out of a 9K. I had the 2.0 swapped out of my '95 900SE-T about four years ago...there was nothing wrong with the 2.0, I just wanted to make the car faster than she already was. We found a low mileage engine out of a wrecked 9000 and did the swap. I also swapped in a mildly mutuant turbocharger and had larger intake and turbo pipes installed. The car ran like the wind....lots of fun to drive. Would still be driving her, but the bolts holding the oil pump backed out and the pump cracked in half and snapped the tabs on the side engine cover. Pump's been replaced and the engine if fine, but I do need to have the side cover replaced (maybe in the spring).
Good luck!
