My son had a 9000 that was leaking a quart of fluid a week. He just put a quart in every week and drove it that way for 95,000 miles (to 210K)and then sold it. With 185K the cost of a new/rebuilt trans would exceed the value of the car and even a used one will come close. In fact you could buy a pretty nice 9-3 with significantly lower miles for $3-4K. If it shifts and functions well there are some products like JB Weld and the like that could be used to patch the hole or at least minimize the leak. You could put a rebuild trans in the car and then at some point rebuild the engine and get another 100K plus out of the car, but for as cheap as you can buy 9-3's it doesn't make a lot of sense. Since this car has very little resale value what I would do is only fix what you absolutely have to and just drive it into the ground.
