It's not that hard to get down at the motors with a VM. Test both directions. Make sure you have pos/neg and if so then it's either a semi-faulty switch or the motor.
If your rears have the switches on the doors as well as the center console you might be able to rule out the switch(s) if none of them work right (even the crummy SAAB switches probably wouldn't all break all at the exact same time). Sounding more and more like it's a motor problem. Remember, just because the motor "works" doesn't mean it's OK. I told you, it's complicated and the SAAB window system (at least on my 2000 9-3) is absolutely TERRIBLE. Like I said, every window on my car broke over a 1 year period. All different parts, but mostly the plastic. I think the plastic is designed to break in no less than 5 years.
