The only major issue that that plague the T7s relative to the T5s, AFAIK, was possible engine sludge. The combination of the "low friction" design and an inadequately designed PCV system was deadly, particularly for those whose owners tried to follow SAABs recommendation of 7500 mile (or more) oil change intervals. Otherwise, the 00' to '02 models are relatively comparable. One might make a case for the '02 as they are newer and probably the most refined of the OG9-3s. Look for as complete a service history as you can, in particular, regular oil changes with a good quality synthetic at least every 5k miles. And make sure that what is commonly referred to as PCV #6 has been installed (or have it installed ASAP after you buy it). Search this board for PCV #6 and you can find how to determine whether it has been done.
