If it is the screw down fitting that holds the strut cartridge in place, then the spring color does not matter. They are probably figuring that you are going to jsut change the entire strut. Have your mechanic swap the old spring to the replacement strut, along with your cartridge if you've replaced them, and you will be all set. There is no difference in the strut itself, just the spring rate.
