Here are the sizes tire rack says are normal and optional, and your new tires, with diameter specs:
215/45x17 24.6
215/40x18 24.8
225/40x18 25.1
The difference between the 17" and the new 225x18 is .5, thats .25 on each side of the tire, and I would be amazed if clearance in the wheel well is so tight that it would rub. An unknown is the width of the tread dimension, surely wider on the 225 than on the 215. Backspace/offset/ET of the new wheels affect clearance for tread width, too. I can't help much there. To keep them centered in that dimension, find out the offset of the old wheels, and the width difference of the two tire sizes, divide by 2, and get that much more offset in the new wheel (so the rim moves out from the car). Your wheel guys should be experts on offset issues.
