Antenna mast stuck sleeve

I’m writing this in the hope that this helps others- I’ve spent way too much time on what started out as a simple antenna mast replacement, which I’ve done several times previously with no problems.
I’ve read a few postings where the mast sleeve sticks in the tube- this was true for me. I did everything recommended in previous postings- vise grips with hammer until I destroyed the mast, even after a week of aggressive penetrating oil. Then pounding with a hammer on the bottom of the mast after removal; then a torch, then pounding. This bugger was just fused in there!
So I bought a replacement on ebay; not seeing that it was from a convertible instead of 4 door. The problem is in the angled piece that fits under the body- a different shape; otherwise identical, but wouldn't fit. What I learned is that this piece is held on with four pin punches; carefully drill these out & it pops right off. So I swapped with the piece from mine, & all’s now well, finally.
I’m still using the used mast in the replacement antenna- at this point, it’s working, & I’m not up for another go… if it sticks in the UP position, I just might leave it.
