I assume you're talking about the stiff/broken vent position selector knob, which is due to the binding heaterbox...

...I followed the TSB up on GenuineSAAB.com's tech library page. It involves sticking a big screw into the heaterbox at a strategic location. If you look at the TSB, you will see that it calls for 2 bolts, 1 on each side. I only did the passenger side. I couldn't figure out where to place the bolt on the driver's side, and after inserting the bolt in just the passenger side, I noted enough improvement in how easily the knob turns to be satisfied with the fix. Definitely made a difference.

A couple of extra notes:

-There are a few TSBs out there, which all involve inserting screws into the heaterbox. The on one GenuineSAAB.com is the most recent, and supercedes the pervious fix, which I think was pretty popular.

-The screws are from the axle of a 9000 I think. At first I thought the part # was wrong, but it is indeed correct (although it is superceded by a new # - you can input it on GenuineSAAB's website). The big screw is big because it needs to distort the heater box a bit as it goes in. As the bulletin says, only insert it 1 mm.

-The TSB instructs you to remove an existing screw. The new screw does NOT go in the same location. Look closely at the pic, and you'll realize where to put it. There is already kind of a "hole" there. The threads on the screw will pull it in if you apply some decent pressure as you screw it in.

See the link below, the TSB is under the "body" category.
