Hi, I’ve got 93 2.0SE T from 1998. I’ve put 138‘000 miles on the clock and didn’t drive it much (twice) in December (normally it’s my daily ride). At the weekend I washed it, moved it back to its outside parking space (about 300 feet) and then yesterday afternoon when I started it - it ran rough for a about a minute and white vapour came out of the exhaust pipe. I ran it for about ten mins to see if there was any improvement and there didn’t seem to be. It ran normally but there was still a small amount of white vapour and after the ten minutes a drip of water from the exhaust - sometimes on revving slightly there was more vapour and twice a slight running rough.
I read on wiki answers that this could be coolant in the engine being burnt but I’ve checked the coolant levels on the exapnsion bottle and they look fine.
Before I panic and think head gasket - could it be that water or condensation has formed inside the engine whilst I haven’t been using it - and if so how long is it safe to run it for to try and burn this off?
Thoughts from those more mechanically minded than me (I am not a tekkie) - most appreciated!
Thanks
John
PS - weather for the parked period has been pretty bad, wet, cold snowy etc with a few days of sun.
