Dust, short life and rotor wear is the big drawbacks of good, quite pads.
But many and most accept that instead of having squeaky brakes.
Driving style is also a big factor in if one pad work for one driver and not the other.
Cheaper, harder pads might work for an aggressive driver but will glaze over and start to squeal if someone drives it gently.
The same aggressive driver might also experience a lot more of dust and short life on quite pads compared to a gentle driver.
