I tackled the job of replacing the valve cover gaskets and spark plugs. The previous owner has attempted to stop oil leaks by smearing blue silcone on the gaskets and after seeing the mess inside the covers I am now convinced never to use this stuff. The job wasn't as difficult as I thought - I had to remove the intake manifold in order to get to the back 3 spark plugs and valve cover. I am not a mechanic and I was a bit leery doing this but it turned out to be straight forward. The only hold up now is that I need to buy the intake manifold gasket because it came of in pieces. I hope the dealer has one in stock.
1. Yikes ! Now that I installed the valve gaskets and new plugs I just figured out what the small O rings that came in the package are for the bolts securing the valve cover. Should I remove everything again and install these little rings?
2. In the package were also included 6 larger O rings - still don't know where they belong.
