'99 9-3 blowing oil smoke intermittenly. Stumped.

My ’99 9-3, standard, (86K), has been intermittently blowing oil smoke out of the exhaust.
Some times it will happen on start up, billowing out a smoke screen, also during acceleration, then taper down after about 30 minutes. Other times it will begin after driving a while. And then nothing, on other start ups, nary a puff, on start up or acceleration.
I’m sure it’s oil since the oil level is dropping and not the coolant.
(I tightened the cylinder head bolt that was loose due to bad thread coating, stopping any previous coolant leakage.)
I’ve changed the oil with synthetic every 3-5 K since I’ve owned it at 35 K.
There appears no odd noises or knocking. Could it be a turbo? Head gasket? It has plenty of boost according to the dash gauge. It chugs when blowing smoke but runs great when not. Could it be the rings or valve guides at this low mileage? I’m stumped. THANKS!
